Independent Living

All students will learn skills to be more independent in their everyday lives. Independent living sessions are provided to teach students to look after themselves and their living place/home and may include personal care, how to cook a meal, learning skills to keep safe, to budget. The course is tailored to the individual’s abilities and their expected future living arrangement after college.  Learning takes place in real living environments, such as a house equipped with a kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedroom. The transfer of skills learnt at college to the student’s home setting are seen as key and support is in place to monitor and help support this.
