Shop & Cook

This session enables students to plan, shop and cook a variety of snack meals using different methods of cooking. 

Students are encouraged to follow a healthy diet plan and make appropriate choices in regards to portion control.  All resources used within the session are to suit learners of different abilities and aims to be an inclusive environment throughout. 

Students access the local shops with the community and locate and shop for their chosen items, remembering to use road safety when travelling and communication skills whilst shopping.

Maths and English skills are embedded throughout the session through the use of shopping lists and estimating and paying for goods. 

Students cook a variety of different foods and learn about the importance of nutrition and healthy eating. When cooking, they use different methods of cooking, from using a hob, grill, oven and microwave.
