Barrow of Treats

Barrow of Treats enterprise is split into two shops based in the village of Barrow Upon Soar. Both shops are open to the public. The main shop is a café serving hot and cold food and drinks, to eat in or take away. The sweet shop is located opposite the cafe, selling a large range of traditional sweets, sweet masterpieces and locally crafted gifts. they also sell made to order party bags and wedding favours.

At the café students learn skills in customer service, food hygiene, health and safety and much more. Students will learn to bake cakes, make drinks, take customer orders and serve. At the sweet shop students learn to measure out sweets, make party bags and much more. Learning to travel to the enterprises by public transport is also a part of the sessions.

Students also develop their English, maths and communication skills through 'real life' activities. Students may also gain a City & Guilds NPTC accredited course in Skills for Working Life, starting at entry level 2.

Trained staff teach at the shops and welcome new student employees into the team.
