Sip & Surf

Sip and Surf, located on Market Street in Loughborough, is an enterprise set up by Homefield College giving students the opportunity to work in a real life workplace.

Sip and Surf has three areas; an internet café, print shop and eBay enterprise.

In the internet café the public can use facilities such as computers, scanning and printing as well as offering a range of drinks. We also have a print shop where you can personalise various items for example mugs, mouse mats, key rings and canvases or posters up to size A1.

There is also an eBay enterprise where students list and sell items online

 Students learn:

  • Independence skills such as travelling to work and using local facilities and shops
  • Social inclusion rules and keeping self safe
  • Worker rights and responsibilities
  • Transferable work skills, such as working with others, professional conduct, looking after and wearing a work uniform and so on
  • ICT
  • English, maths and communication are embedded into everyday activities enabling students to develop their skills and apply them in a meaningful way
  • Students have opportunities to gain formal qualifications, at entry level, in NPTC (City and Guilds) Skills for Working Life.
