Homefield has formal partnerships with three local general further education (FE) colleges. We work very closely with the staff in those colleges to ensure that our students have a good experience from being there.
We believe that all of our students should be given the chance of going to a local college during their time with us, as it's the type of place that they need to adjust to for their future.
Some of our students have been to local FE colleges and found it very difficult to cope. We aim - by support and encouragement - to help them learn the skills needed to do well in that setting after they have left us.
Sometimes the courses at the FE college will be courses that we don't have. So, it is important to give the student the chance to learn a different area of practical experience.
Sometimes the students will go on a course which is similar to the one they are doing at Homefield. The most important part of that experience is to be able to adjust and use that learning in a different setting with different colleagues and a different lecturer.
