Attendance Officer

To support the College in raising student progress by improving attendance and reducing persistent absence. The postholder will provide a specialist attendance service within curriculum that promotes positive attitudes toward education among students and their families. The postholder will provide a professional, efficient and effective administration of student attendance and punctuality, ensuring that interventions are timely and impactful, in accordance with our organisational values:

Role Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor and record student attendance, identifying patterns and trends. 
  • Work with students, families and staff to address barriers to attendance. 
  • Develop and implement attendance improvement plans for students. 
  • Provide regular reports on attendance to senior management and other stakeholders. 
  • Liaise with external agencies and services to support students’ attendance and wellbeing. 
  • Promote a positive attendance culture within the College, emphasising the importance of regular attendance for academic and personal development.
  • Actively support the College to ensure that we fulfil our mission and achieve our strategic goals.
  • Follow up and make necessary referrals to colleagues in respect of student attendance or extenuating circumstances affecting attendance.  
  • Monitor and report on the attendance at a cross-college level and make recommendations, when necessary, on how to improve monitoring systems.  
  • Make recommendations to colleagues where student disciplinary measures should be started.
