At Homefield, our staff work hard to support, empower and inspire our students every single day. Taking time to pause, unwind and look after our own mental and physical health is incredibly important, which is why last week’s Wellbeing Wednesday was such a welcome highlight for our team.
At Homefield, we love seeing our students take the lead, develop real-world skills and share their passions with the wider college community. This term, Bespoke student Cayden did exactly that by completely organising and hosting a brilliant college rugby event for his peers.
On Wednesday 6 May, a group of our students headed over to the Portland College Games to compete in two highly anticipated events: the 7-a-side football tournament and Boccia.
On Tuesday 5th May, our students headed down to Saffron Lane Sports Stadium to compete in the Leicestershire Disability Athletics event. It was a brilliant, high-energy day and our team gave it their absolute all.
At Homefield, we believe that real-world work experience is vital for building the confidence, independence and vocational skills our students need for their futures. This term, Pathway 1 students Corwin, Harry, Jed and Jack recently completed a successful six-week work experience and volunteering placement with the team at Giving World.
Our 2026 Transitions Week was a whirlwind of discovery, community engagement and vocational inspiration. Our students stepped out of the classroom and into the heart of local industry and community hubs to build the confidence they need for their next steps.
As the Easter holidays approach, many young people will face a significant shift in their daily routine. While a break from school or college is often seen as a positive, we know that for neurodivergent individuals – and anyone who finds change challenging – a lack of routine can lead to feelings of uncertainty or dysregulation.
Our students recently enjoyed an incredible opportunity following their weekly football training with Leicester City Football Club’s community programme. Their hard work and enthusiasm over the term paid off with a truly one-of-a-kind matchday experience at the King Power Stadium.
This Neurodiversity Week, we are celebrating the unique ways our students’ brains work – and at Homefield, that means celebrating their passions. We know that for many neurodivergent young people, a special interest isn’t just a hobby. It is a doorway to communication, a tool for regulation and a spark for incredible academic progress.
This week marks Neurodiversity Celebration Week, an initiative that challenges stereotypes and celebrates the unique strengths of the neurodivergent community. At Homefield, this week holds a special significance – it is an opportunity for us to move beyond simply “understanding” neurodiversity and instead encourage everyone to truly value the diverse perspectives our students bring to the world.
The streets of the city were buzzing this weekend as the Leicester 10K took place, bringing together thousands of runners for a day of personal challenges and community celebration. Among the sea of neon T-shirts and cheering crowds, Team Homefield stood out – not just for our pace, but for the incredible mission we were running for.

At Homefield, work experience is all about finding the right fit for every student. For Elliott, a student at our Nuneaton campus, that journey has led him to the busy warehouse of Nuneaton Signs, where he is currently taking part in a unique, rotation-based work placement.
When adverse weather meant a sudden switch to remote learning, our students rose to the challenge with resilience, positivity and determination. Keeping students and staff safe was our priority – and what followed was a fantastic example of how learning at Homefield goes far beyond the classroom.

Representing Homefield College with determination, creativity and professionalism, they both stepped well outside their comfort zones – and truly rose to the occasion.
