The Performing Arts Show Was A Great Success!
Last week, our talented Performing Arts students dazzled in their performance of "Personal Development: The Pantomime" for their annual Christmas Show!
Hard at work since the start of term, the cast and crew tackled the stories carefully and respectfully. In the process, they even embedded important and meaningful Personal Development themes – such as consent and equality – into the source material in order to showcase their understanding of the stories and how they could have been re-interpreted in modern society.
The show put a unique twist on three classic tales – ‘Sleeping Beauty’, ‘Aladdin’, and ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ – which allowed our students to have plenty of creative freedom! They made the performance entirely their own, having fun while also developing important skills such as growing their confidence, improving their public speaking and much more!
The performance was also an incredibly collaborative project, seeing Spectrum Style students working on hair & make-up backstage, while the theatre lights and curtains were expertly manned by student Daniel P – who also digitally designed the show programmes.
For some backstage insight into how the show came to life, you can also read student and cast member Jacob’s blog post, sharing his experience of being in the performance, as well as his favourite moments!
Overall, each team member brought their amazing skills to the table, showcasing great teamwork, and the end-result was nothing short of successful! We are very proud of our students for challenging themselves and delivering such a fantastic show, and we are looking forward to what is coming up for their summer show!
