We’re proud to join the national Power of Specialist FE campaign - a celebration of the life-changing impact specialist further education has on young people across the country. At Homefield College, we see this impact every day. It’s in the confidence our students build, the skills they develop and the futures they begin to shape with pride.
Why Specialist FE Matters
Specialist Further Education has the power to transform lives. For many young people, mainstream settings can feel overwhelming or isolating – but specialist colleges provide the structure, support and understanding that allow students to truly thrive.
As Paige, a Pathway 2 student, put it:
“Your time at college can really impact your life.”
Without Specialist FE, many young people may never have the opportunity to attend college at all. What we do is about opening doors, breaking down barriers and giving every student the chance to reach their potential.
Pathway 3 student Jess’ experience shows this power clearly. She shared:
“When I finally escaped mainstream and moved to a specialist school, it was a shock – in the best way. The environment was so inclusive. Staff were supportive, and no one singled you out for being different; they encouraged it.”
Her full story paints a vivid picture of how supportive environments can help students find their voice, build resilience and discover confidence they never knew they had.
Celebrating Jasmine’s Success at WorldSkills UK
We’re thrilled to congratulate Jasmine, a Pathway 3 student, who recently won a Bronze medal at the WorldSkills UK Final for Foundation Hairdressing.
Her stunning fairy tale-inspired hair design wowed the judges and showcased the incredible talent nurtured in Spectrum Style, our autism-friendly hair, grooming and beauty training salon.
With the support of specialist FE, Jasmine has had the space to grow her skills, build her confidence and now shine on a national stage.
