Meet Our Runners! – Homefield 10K for £10K

At Homefield, we believe that education is just one part of a fulfilling life. For many autistic young people in the local community, the biggest challenge isn't just what happens during the day - it’s what happens after it.

To tackle social isolation and provide safe, vibrant spaces for autistic young people to thrive, we have launched our 10K for £10K campaign. We are incredibly proud to introduce our first batch of dedicated runners / speed walkers – Tracey, Katie, Emily and Vikki – who will be taking to the streets for the Leicester 10K on Sunday 1st March.

Each runner has their own “why,” but they all share one goal: making our Community Hubs a reality.

Hear from our Runners

Tracey, Principal & CEO

“This year, I’m taking on the Leicester 10K to raise vital funds for the development of our Out of Hours Hubs – and I would be incredibly grateful for your support.

As the Principal and Chief Executive of Homefield, I see firsthand how powerful friendship, belonging and social connection can be for our students. Many of our young people experience isolation, and the chance to build friendships outside the college day can make a profound difference to their wellbeing, confidence and happiness.

Our vision is to create dedicated spaces within our buildings where young people can meet, socialise, feel safe and enjoy time with others. These hubs will give them more opportunities to develop friendships, build independence and take part in meaningful activities in a supportive environment.

By sponsoring my Leicester 10K run, you’ll be directly helping us bring these hubs to life – creating experiences that will stay with our students and young people in the community long after college ends.

Thank you so much for considering supporting this cause. Together, we can give young people the opportunities they deserve to feel connected, valued and part of a community”

Katie, Executive Assistant

“I’m taking on the 10K for £10K challenge to support Homefield College and help raise funds for our new community hubs. These hubs will provide safe, inclusive spaces for students with autism to socialise, learn and take part in meaningful activities.

I’m also doing this for myself – to improve my fitness, challenge my limits and push myself out of my comfort zone!”

Emily, Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner

“I’m taking part because this is a fantastic idea –  creating community hubs for people to be able to socialise and see their friends in a safe environment. Our students would love this.”

Vikki, HR Manager

“This year I’m taking on the Leicester 10k to raise money for Homefield College, an incredible further education college that supports young people with autism.

Homefield does amazing work helping autistic learners build confidence, independence and real-life skills – and they’re working hard to widen their support across the local autistic community. Every donation, big or small, will help them continue creating opportunities and empowering young people to thrive.”

Why 10K for £10K?

The money raised from this challenge will go directly toward developing our Community Hubs – a gateway to community and independence. They will offer:

  • A safe environment to meet friends outside of college hours.
  • Support to build social confidence and communication skills.
  • A sense of belonging within the wider community.
