I have been a trustee since July 2021. I am Chair of the Teaching, Learning and Assessment Sub-Committee and the named trustee for safeguarding. Apart from the general duties of being a trustee, I focus on ensuring that safeguarding practices and policies at the College are effective, and I provide assurance to the Trustee Board on this area.
As Chair of the Teaching, Learning and Assessment Committee, I aim to focus trustees on monitoring the quality of the teaching and learning experience for students and ensuring that this is of the highest standard possible.
Prior to becoming a trustee, I worked at Leicester College as Director of Student Services and Marketing and before that I was the first Head of the Disabilities and Additional Needs Service at Loughborough University and developed this service from scratch.
Before working at Loughborough University, I was Head of curriculum for students with learning disabilities at Leicester South Fields College. I have also worked as a Residential Social Worker, Day Care Officer and teacher with adults with learning disabilities.
I have experience of many Ofsted inspections and of developing curriculum and support services for students.
Why did I become a Trustee?
When I retired from full time work, I wanted to use my skills and experience to help develop services for people who have a learning disability and I liked the fact that Homefield was small enough for staff to get to know each individual student but was also big enough to provide opportunities for students to achieve their full potential.
I also knew Tracey from my role at Leicester College and knew she would grow and develop the College whilst still retaining the focus on each individual student.
