I have been a solicitor for 25 years and I am currently Head of Legal at Vistry Group where I provide legal, operational and strategic advice across 23 regional businesses nationally. I also chair the Vistry Accessibility Allies Network and get involved in D&I initiatives to educate and support colleagues.
I am proud to be a Trustee at Homefield College and was appointed in January 2020. I am keen to ensure that the students are given the opportunity to flourish and learn skills for life.
I was Chair of Trustees for Leicestershire Empowerment for Autism Today (‘LEAT’) for 7 years. LEAT provides support to young people and adults to find employment and continued support in the workplace. It also provides an advocacy service to ensure that the service user’s voice is heard in all areas. I firmly believe that everyone has the right to be heard.
I was a parent governor of a primary school for 7 years where I sat on the business management committee. I was the SEND lead governor and safeguarding governor.
Why did I become a Trustee?
My son has an ASD diagnosis and I have enjoyed supporting him through his education journey. I would like to continue learning about autism and to share with others what I have learned along the way.
Education is key and I am passionate about giving autistic people every opportunity to be successful. This will only happen if society and employers are educated in autism – which is my mission!
