Homefield Students shine at WorldSkills UK National Qualifiers

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of two of our talented students, Jasmine B and Cameron B, who recently competed at the WorldSkills UK National Qualifiers. Representing Homefield College with determination, creativity and professionalism, they both stepped well outside their comfort zones - and truly rose to the occasion.

The National Qualifiers are known for being high-pressure environments, where students must perform in front of unfamiliar staff and expert judges. Jasmine and Cameron embraced the challenge head-on, demonstrating not only their impressive skills but also remarkable resilience and composure under pressure.

Jasmine’s Challenge: Hairdressing & Design

With just two hours on the clock, Jasmine was tasked with creating a stunning hairstyle and a complementary mood board from scratch. Working with speed, precision and flair, she delivered a beautiful final look that wowed the judges and showcased her growing confidence as a hairdresser.

Cameron’s Challenge: Culinary Arts

In the kitchen, Cameron had just 90 minutes to prepare and present a trio of Mediterranean-style dishes. His ability to manage time, stay focused and bring bold flavours to life in such a short window was nothing short of a culinary feat.

Through this experience, both students have grown in confidence and self-belief, and we couldn’t be prouder of the way they represented our college. The results will be announced on 10th July – fingers crossed for both of them!

A special thank you goes to Bridget and Lisa, whose support and encouragement throughout the competition journey have been instrumental. Their dedication and mentorship have left a lasting impact on both students already.
