Running the extra mile: Homefield’s 10K challenge to build community hubs

On Sunday 1st March 2026, Homefield will take to the streets for the Run For All Leicester 10K. This is about a far greater goal than personal bests and finish lines - we're raising £10,000 to establish our first Homefield Community Hubs.

More than a college, more than a race

Homefield is a charity dedicated to empowering autistic young people to learn, work and thrive. We know that once the school and college day ends, many autistic young people face the difficult reality of isolation, limited social opportunities and significant barriers to community connection.

It is a problem that hurts:

“I want a social life. Somewhere I can go to make friends and do stuff at the weekends with people like me”

The vision of Homefield Community Hubs

That’s why we are launching Homefield Community Hubs in the Midlands. These will be safe, sensory-friendly and welcoming places designed specifically to keep the connection going outside of college hours.

We plan to offer a vibrant programme of evening clubs and weekend activities, including:

  • Creative, social and wellbeing activities, co-designed with autistic young people.
  • Opportunities to build friendships.
  • A supported environment led by trained facilitators and dedicated volunteers.

Your impact is making the vision a reality

Every pound raised from our 10K for £10K challenge is an investment in reducing isolation and empowering citizenship. Your support will directly fund the foundational costs of establishing the first programmes, including:

  • Trained, skilled facilitators.
  • Materials for activities, group and workshops.
  • Venue running costs.

We need to hit our £10,000 target to ensure these hubs are launched successfully and sustainably.

Join the challenge

You don’t have to be in Leicester to help us cross the finish line!

  • Donate – give whatever you can at our JustGiving page. Every pound supports autistic young people in the Midlands.
  • Share – spread the word on social media using #Homefield10Kfor10K.
  • Join in – run with us in the Leicester 10K or your own sponsored 10K in your local area and fundraise for Homefield.

Together we can build spaces that truly empower autistic young people to connect, belong and thrive.
