Making an Impact: Our Students’ Work Experience at Giving World

At Homefield, we believe that real-world work experience is vital for building the confidence, independence and vocational skills our students need for their futures. This term, Pathway 1 students Corwin, Harry, Jed and Jack recently completed a successful six-week work experience and volunteering placement with the team at Giving World.

Throughout their placement, the group supported the charity’s vital mission of distributing essential supplies to those in need. Each student demonstrated significant professional growth and dedication to their assigned roles, from managing logistics to supporting their peers.

Student Highlights

Each student showed a great deal of dedication to their specific roles, developing a range of new skills while on-site. Their progress throughout the six-week placement highlighted their growing confidence and commitment to the team.

Corwin showed excellent leadership qualities throughout the placement. He took the initiative as Group Lead and worked hard to ensure the work environment remained tidy and organised.

Harry demonstrated impressive focus and perseverance during his tasks. He worked safely and carefully to ensure all items were packaged correctly, even when the job required a long-term commitment.

Jed displayed a high level of independence while on-site. He followed complex demonstrations carefully and was able to complete his tasks efficiently and stay focused on his work.

Jack proved to be a fantastic team player. He consistently followed routines and remained on task with support, while always being ready to offer help to his peers whenever they needed a hand.

In Their Own Words

The impact of this experience was clear, with the students reporting a high level of engagement and a newfound appreciation for the value of teamwork. Here is what they had to say about their time at Giving World:
