Homefield students shine at the Leicestershire Disability Athletics competition

On Tuesday 5th May, our students headed down to Saffron Lane Sports Stadium to compete in the Leicestershire Disability Athletics event. It was a brilliant, high-energy day and our team gave it their absolute all.

From track events to field trials, everyone showed incredible determination and sportsmanship across a whole range of competitions.

Giving it their all on the field and track

Our students entered a diverse selection of events, demonstrating their skills and versatility in both wheelchair and ambulant categories:

  • Track & Field Events: Students competed in the 75m sprint, 400m run, standing long jump and the howler throw.
  • Wheelchair Events: Oliver and Luke took on the challenge of the 75m self-propelled sprint, shot put, howler throw and the fast-paced 75m slalom race.

Infectious energy and a winning finish

The atmosphere on the day was fantastic. The team had so much fun that their energy became entirely infectious – so much so that they even managed to get the staff running around the 400m track alongside them!

There was plenty to celebrate on the track, including an incredibly close finish in the 400m. A huge congratulations goes to Adem, who won the race and crossed the line with a brilliant time of 1 minute 16 seconds, closely followed by Jed B in a fantastic effort.

Proud to be Team Homefield

Beyond the medals and personal bests, the absolute highlight of the day was seeing our students cheer each other on and represent the college so brilliantly.

We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part and showed such wonderful team spirit. Well done, team Homefield – you smashed it!
