Success & Community at the We are connectED Macmillan Coffee Morning
We were delighted to welcome members, families and supporters to Sileby Town Football Club on Thursday 24th September for our We are connectED Community Learning Macmillan Coffee Morning & Fundraiser.
It was a fantastic event that brought everyone together over hot drinks, delicious homemade cakes, enterprise stalls and interactive games. Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who attended and contributed, we are proud to announce that the event raised a grand total of £607 overall.
The proceeds from the day will be split between supporting the vital work of Macmillan Cancer Support and funding enterprise equipment for our community learning sessions. Specifically, our portion of the funds will go directly towards purchasing a new camera, allowing members in our photography group to capture their ongoing work, trips and creative projects.
Highlights, Stalls & Games
Our enterprise stalls were a central feature of the event, showcasing a wide range of handcrafted products created by our members:
- Handcrafted Woodwork & Gifts: Visitors browsed through detailed wooden trinket boxes, carved bookends, hand-braided jewellery and decorative suncatchers.
- Unwrap a Story (Blind Date with a Book): Books were individually wrapped with handwritten clues on the cover, encouraging guests to take a chance on a mystery read while supporting our fundraising goal.
- Crafts & Textiles: Members displayed handmade pom-pom wreaths, custom resin items, pocket hugs and decorative homeware.
- Tombola & Bakes: Attendees enjoyed the well-stocked tombola and raffle tables alongside a selection of homemade traybakes, cakes and refreshments.
Guess the Skittles Winner Announced!
One of the most popular activities of the day was our “Guess the Skittles in the Jar” competition. We can now officially reveal that the jar contained exactly 676 Skittles.
Congratulations to our winner, who came closest to the exact count with a guess of 666!
Thank You
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who baked and donated prizes and to all who came along to support the event. Your contributions directly support individuals facing cancer through Macmillan, while providing valuable practical equipment to enrich our We are connectED community learning sessions.
