I am currently Vice President Sustainability – General Counsel at Rolls-Royce plc. I am a chartered mechanical engineer and have worked across the nuclear; aerospace; and defence sectors. This experience will help me support the college develop a long term sustainability strategy and also provide technical expertise with expansion and property developments.
Working in a General Counsel function, and in my previous role as head of the Rolls-Royce Management System, I have significant governance experience with a focus on process; controls; risk management; and assurance. These core skills will underpin my role as a trustee ensuring that we are managing our risks and opportunities to remain viable for students, staff and the community.
Why did I become a Trustee?
I have always been keen to promote and support education and STEM on a personal basis. In my personal life, I have taught martial arts and scuba diving. Professionally, I have mentored young engineers and university students. I now want to expand this influence and involvement on a much wider and regular basis.
Homefield College particularly appeals to me as I want to give everyone the opportunity to discover and reach their own potential. I believe everyone can achieve success and has the ability for growth, no matter their personal circumstances. I think it is the role of education to help students discover this and support them to be the best person that they can be.
