Salary: £22,831.35 - Actual Salary per annum (including holiday pay)
Contract: 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

The Job Coach supports students with learning needs in gaining real-world work experience through internships and placements.
Acting as a key link between students and employers, the role involves preparing students for the workplace, providing on-the-job support and helping them move toward paid employment.
This position promotes independence, inclusion and career readiness.

Overall Purpose
The person appointed will support students in their work placement with a view to fade support once the employer and student are happy with independence levels and capabilities at work. The role includes ensuring the tripartite relationship between student, college and employer is strong, providing the employer with the purpose and proposed outcomes of the placement. The job coach will assist with all application, interview and future employment opportunities.

Role Responsibilities:
1. Student Support and Coaching
- Provide personalised, on-site job coaching to students during their work placements.
- Use appropriate strategies to develop students’ employment skills.
- Apply person-centred approaches tailored to each student’s needs, preferences and EHCP outcomes.
- Ensure learning objectives are appropriately communicated and worked towards throughout the placement.
- Respond proactively to emerging challenges, adapting strategies and escalating concerns through agreed safeguarding and pastoral channels.
- Prepare students for placements through a range of activities relevant to their needs.
2. Employer Engagement
- Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with placement employers, acting as a key point of contact throughout the placement.
- Work with line managers and supervisors to identify appropriate tasks for students to complete.
- Contribute to the development of new employer partnerships aligned to student outcomes.
3. Planning
- Contribute to students’ EHCP, ensuring agreed outcomes related to work placements are agreed.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of students’ progress using the College’s chosen tracking system.
- Complete placement agreements, insurance documentation and risk assessments prior to each placement commencing.
4. Quality Assurance
- Gather and act on feedback from students, employers and families to continuously improve the quality of the placement.
- Participate in relevant CPD activities.
- Keep up to date with developments in supported employment.

Education & Qualifications
