Last week, we wrapped up the academic year in true Homefield fashion at our annual Staff Development & Awards Day – a celebration of dedication, collaboration and the people who make Homefield such a special place to work, learn and grow.

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of two of our talented students, Jasmine B and Cameron B, who recently competed at the WorldSkills UK National Qualifiers. Representing Homefield College with determination, creativity and professionalism, they both stepped well outside their comfort zones – and truly rose to the occasion.

Last Thursday, Homefield proudly took part in the 2025 Natspec Games – a national event dedicated to celebrating inclusion, sportsmanship and teamwork for young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Last week, our talented Performing Arts students dazzled in their performance of “Personal Development: The Pantomime” for their annual Christmas Show!

Supported Internship student Kieran has recently completed an incredibly interesting project; he presented his views on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the media, with a focus on autism, the range of its representation, as well as how it can be improved upon moving forward.

Performing Arts students have recently started taking exciting trips to Curve Theatre in Leicester to experience the magic of live musical theatre – beginning with “Hairspray” on 26th September, followed by “Dear Evan Hansen” on 3rd October.

We are thrilled to announce that all of our talented hair & beauty students who entered the World Skills Competition have advanced to the National Qualifiers for World Skills UK!

We were delighted to join the annual Portland Games competition again this year. In the weeks leading up to the event, our Health & Fitness students prepared thoroughly by researching the venue, packing essentials and learning how to handle different situations as well as the value of teamwork and respect when competing.

Welcome to Spectrum Style, an autism-friendly training salon operated by Homefield College in Barrow-Upon-Soar.

Our salon is more than just a place to get a relaxing treatment; it’s a supportive environment where students who have learning and / or communication disabilities gain valuable vocational skills while providing quality services to our local community.

Recently we launched a #HomefieldRespects inclusive competition. This was looking to showcase how our students are shining through all four aspects of our Homefield Respects Campaign.

Fake news is all around us. It fuels misinformation, stokes fear and polarises society. It’s important to be able to fact-check and spot when information may not be true.

What a successful first half term we have had! Work placements are now better than ever, Nuneaton have a farm to care for, and more money than mischief was raised for Macmillan Cancer Charity – at lots of coffee mornings across our sites, with delicious cakes made by our very own Pathway One & Two students!

The Student Union is a small group of students at Homefield College given the opportunity to create decisions, advise their peers, and to show staff what we think needs to be done to make the college a safer, more comfortable, and better place all around.

Hello, I am Denzil, a second-year student at Homefield. I am an ambitious student and with the endorsement and encouragement of the college I have managed to achieve many things that will help me in life.

The year started busy as always, but it was a welcome relief to be going into an academic year without the impact of the pandemic leading the priority of our work. This meant that we could focus on what we do best, which is engaging with the community and real experiences for the students. There is far too much that has been achieved by the students in this academic year to cover everything, but a flavour of the year follows.

Hi I’m Alex Jones, I am 21 years old, I have ADHD and autism, and I’ve been a member of T.E.C.K for about three years now. Despite life throwing up hurdles, I’m on my way to university now. This is my story.

On Wednesday 14th of June, I faced my fears of public speaking whilst having social anxiety – by delivering a speech about my Specialist Education Journey to 300 delegates at Natspec. Here’s my top tips and personal experience of the Annual conference in Stratford-Upon-Avon.
