This Neurodiversity Week, we are celebrating the unique ways our students’ brains work – and at Homefield, that means celebrating their passions. We know that for many neurodivergent young people, a special interest isn’t just a hobby. It is a doorway to communication, a tool for regulation and a spark for incredible academic progress.

This week marks Neurodiversity Celebration Week, an initiative that challenges stereotypes and celebrates the unique strengths of the neurodivergent community. At Homefield, this week holds a special significance – it is an opportunity for us to move beyond simply “understanding” neurodiversity and instead encourage everyone to truly value the diverse perspectives our students bring to the world.

The streets of the city were buzzing this weekend as the Leicester 10K took place, bringing together thousands of runners for a day of personal challenges and community celebration. Among the sea of neon T-shirts and cheering crowds, Team Homefield stood out – not just for our pace, but for the incredible mission we were running for.

At Homefield, we believe that education is just one part of a fulfilling life. For many autistic young people in the local community, the biggest challenge isn’t just what happens during the day – it’s what happens after it.

At Homefield, work experience is all about finding the right fit for every student. For Elliott, a student at our Nuneaton campus, that journey has led him to the busy warehouse of Nuneaton Signs, where he is currently taking part in a unique, rotation-based work placement.

When adverse weather meant a sudden switch to remote learning, our students rose to the challenge with resilience, positivity and determination. Keeping students and staff safe was our priority – and what followed was a fantastic example of how learning at Homefield goes far beyond the classroom.

We’re proud to join the national Power of Specialist FE campaign – a celebration of the life-changing impact specialist further education has on young people across the country. At Homefield College, we see this impact every day. It’s in the confidence our students build, the skills they develop and the futures they begin to shape with pride.

Hi, I’m Jess. I have been diagnosed with Autism, diabetes, anxiety and depression throughout my lifetime. I’ve attended various mainstream and specialist schools and colleges.

Recently we celebrated a milestone that has been years in the making – the official opening of Parkside, our new building in Nuneaton. What began as a small satellite site with just six students has grown into something we are incredibly proud of, and the opening event really captured how special this moment is for our community.

On Sunday 1st March 2026, Homefield will take to the streets for the Run For All Leicester 10K. This is about a far greater goal than personal bests and finish lines – we’re raising £10,000 to establish our first Homefield Community Hubs.

This October, Breward’s Coffee Shop is getting into the Halloween spirit with a frightfully fun line-up of special events for families, plus cosy café openings for everyone to enjoy.

In light of recent, baseless claims spreading disinformation about autism, we want to be absolutely clear about our position and direct our Homefield community to trusted, evidence-based sources.

This afternoon (Monday 15 September, 4.30 pm) MPs will debate the future of post-19 special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) provision.

Last week, we wrapped up the academic year in true Homefield fashion at our annual Staff Development & Awards Day – a celebration of dedication, collaboration and the people who make Homefield such a special place to work, learn and grow.

Supported Internship student Kieran has recently completed an incredibly interesting project; he presented his views on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the media, with a focus on autism, the range of its representation, as well as how it can be improved upon moving forward.

Performing Arts students have recently started taking exciting trips to Curve Theatre in Leicester to experience the magic of live musical theatre – beginning with “Hairspray” on 26th September, followed by “Dear Evan Hansen” on 3rd October.
